Interior Minister Praises Ashura Security Success
The Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, has expressed deep appreciation for the high-level royal guidance and national efforts that contributed to the successful organization of this year’s Ashura commemorations in Bahrain.
Sheikh Rashid praised the meaningful remarks of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which commended the government’s efforts—led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa—in ensuring the necessary arrangements and support for the religious occasion.
The Interior Minister extended gratitude to the HM King for his continued guidance in strengthening national unity and promoting tolerance and coexistence, noting that the directives played a key role in ensuring the smooth facilitation of Ashura rituals.
He also commended the support of the government and praised the efforts of the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Chairman of the Islamic Endowments Council, Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, highlighting the coordination between relevant authorities that contributed to the success of the season.
Shaikh Rashid further acknowledged the cooperation of ma’atam (religious congregation hall) leaders, speakers, and participants, stressing that their commitment and discipline helped ensure that the commemorations were conducted in a safe and orderly environment, despite regional tensions.
He emphasized that the strong sense of social awareness among participants reflected national responsibility and contributed significantly to maintaining security and stability throughout the season.
The minister also praised the professionalism of law enforcement personnel, noting that police forces acted in accordance with legal frameworks when addressing any violations, while ensuring the overall success of the event.
He expressed appreciation to senior police leadership, governorate police directors, civil defense, traffic police, community policing units, and all security departments involved, alongside supporting government entities including the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture.
Sheikh Rashid stressed that Ashura must remain strictly within its religious and spiritual framework, free from politicization or external influences, underscoring that safeguarding its purpose is a shared national responsibility.
He concluded that the success of this year’s observance should serve as a foundation for future seasons, reinforcing cooperation between citizens, institutions, and security services under the Kingdom’s continued commitment to religious freedom, stability, and national unity.
