GCC Ministers Boost Security Coordination

Interior ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries stressed the importance of strengthening joint security coordination following the arrest of several cells linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.

The emergency meeting was held in Riyadh and chaired by Bahrain’s Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, with the participation of GCC interior ministers and GCC Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi.

Officials discussed the latest regional security developments and ways to enhance Gulf cooperation in confronting security threats and ongoing regional challenges.

The ministers emphasised that the security of GCC countries is interconnected and reaffirmed the importance of increasing coordination between interior ministries and relevant security authorities to combat terrorism and protect regional stability.

The meeting also addressed recent attacks targeting GCC countries and reviewed measures aimed at strengthening security preparedness and response capabilities.

The ministers expressed condolences to the families of victims killed in recent hostile operations and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

GCC officials praised the efforts of Gulf security forces in identifying and arresting the Iran-linked cells, highlighting their vigilance, readiness, and role in safeguarding the security and stability of GCC societies.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of GCC countries to continue joint security cooperation in confronting threats and maintaining peace and stability across the region.
