Foreign Minister Praises Bahrain Security Forces for Uncovering IRGC-Linked Cell

Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, commended the vigilance and professionalism of the Kingdom’s security services following the uncovering of a main cell linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the ideology of “Wilayat Al Faqih”.

In a statement issued in Manama, Dr. Al Zayani said the operation, carried out in cooperation with the Public Prosecution, led to the arrest of several individuals accused in cases involving espionage and support for what he described as Iran’s hostile actions against Bahrain.

He said the successful operation reflects Bahrain’s high level of national readiness to protect its sovereignty, security and stability under the leadership of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The Foreign Minister praised the efforts of the Ministry of Interior of Bahrain, led by Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, highlighting its role in strengthening national security and pursuing investigations and legal action against those linked to extremist and terrorist activities.

Dr. Al Zayani reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to the rule of law and stressed that the Kingdom would maintain zero tolerance toward any attempts to undermine national unity, stability or security.

He also strongly condemned what he described as continued Iranian interference in Bahrain’s internal affairs and threats to the security of Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The Minister accused Iran of supporting espionage and terrorist cells linked to the IRGC and Hezbollah, describing such activities as violations of international law, the UN Charter and the principles of good neighbourliness.

The Foreign Minister further expressed appreciation for the readiness and professionalism of the Bahrain Defence Force and security agencies, working alongside armed forces of GCC member states to confront regional threats and maintain security and stability.

Dr. Al Zayani also thanked allied and friendly countries for their support, describing it as a reflection of international solidarity against extremism, terrorism and regional threats.

He called on Iran to comply with international law and cease hostile actions and interference in Bahrain and the wider region, including support for proxy groups and activities threatening maritime navigation and vital waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz.

The Minister warned that such actions pose risks to global trade, energy supply chains, food security and international maritime freedom.

Dr. Al Zayani concluded by stressing the importance of national unity and collective responsibility in protecting Bahrain’s sovereignty and development achievements, affirming that the Kingdom will continue strengthening its security, stability and sustainable development under its leadership and through the unity of its people and institutions.
