On a quiet day in one of Bahrain’s residential neighborhoods, the victim was heading out to pray after leaving Salmaniya Hospital, believing he was entering the local mosque as usual. But the door was locked, and he suddenly realized he had mistakenly tried to enter someone’s home.
As he politely tried to leave, the homeowner, visibly upset, came out to confront him. What seemed like a harmless moment at first quickly escalated. The young man apologized, explaining that he thought the building was a mosque because of the flags on the facade. But the homeowner’s reaction was unexpected. With a strong slap to the left cheek, he injured the victim’s ear, leaving the peaceful neighborhood stunned, then walked away.
Later that evening, the victim felt sudden pain in his left ear and went to the hospital, where he discovered a perforated eardrum and permanent hearing loss of 7%. The shock was not only in the pain but in realizing that a fleeting misunderstanding had resulted in a lasting injury.
The First High Criminal Court followed the case closely, reviewing all medical and legal evidence, and set the next session for defense and arguments. The defendant tried to justify his actions, claiming he had no intent to harm and that his reaction was merely a response to what he considered inappropriate behavior.
In this quiet residential neighborhood, that slap became a painful lesson about haste and anger and how a simple situation can turn into a real-life story recorded in both legal records and human memory.
