Manama: The United Kingdom’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Alastair Long, has strongly condemned recent attacks by Iran targeting Bahrain and its partners in the Gulf Cooperation Council, describing them as “completely unjustified and shocking”.

Ambassador Long stressed that the United Kingdom has not taken part in any offensive military operations against Iran. He warned, however, that Iran’s escalation particularly attacks directed at the sovereign territory of Gulf states represents a serious and unacceptable development for regional security.

He said the UK continues to provide defensive support to Gulf countries, including military flights in GCC airspace and successful interceptions of drones, as part of efforts to protect the region.

“We are working to protect our allies, and in return, our allies provide exceptional protection for British nationals in the region through their courageous defence efforts,” the ambassador said.

Ambassador Long also praised Bahrain’s authorities for their role in safeguarding the Kingdom, commending what he described as the large-scale and professional efforts undertaken by relevant agencies to ensure the safety of citizens and residents amid the current situation.

He urged British nationals in Bahrain to follow instructions issued by local authorities, register for UK travel alerts and rely only on official sources for information. He further advised UK passport holders to register their presence in Bahrain through the official UK government platform so that assistance can be provided quickly if required.
