Bahrain Cuts Industrial Plot Service Time to 13 Days

As part of ongoing government efforts to enhance service quality and efficiency, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has upgraded its Industrial Plot Construction and Operation Extension Service.

The updated service allows industrial plot tenants to request extensions for contractual deadlines, including the time needed to obtain building permits, start construction, and commence factory operations, in line with approved regulations.

Under the new improvements, the processing time has been reduced from 18 working days to 13, thanks to a streamlined multi-stage internal review, automated procedures, and fewer approvals required.

Applicants also benefit from fewer required documents, a simplified four-step application process, and an improved user interface that enhances accessibility and investor experience.

Eman Ahmed Al-Dosari, Undersecretary of the Ministry, said the upgrade reflects the ministry’s commitment to digital solutions that increase efficiency, resource utilization, and transparency. She added that the revamped service reduces time and effort for users while enhancing institutional performance.

Applications can be submitted via the Industrial Areas Services System: https://service.moic.gov.bh/iad.

The Ministry noted that, as part of broader government initiatives, over 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published, with 800 services undergoing development or reengineering. These efforts draw on feedback from the National Suggestions and Complaints System “Tawasul”, investor comments, and secret shopper reports, alongside service guides and service level agreements, all aimed at improving procedures, service quality, and the user experience while supporting Bahrain’s digital transformation.
