Bahrain Backs UN-Led Political Process to Resolve Yemen Crisis

New York : Bahrain has called for a measured and rational approach to help secure long-term peace in Yemen, emphasising dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to resolving the conflict.
Speaking during a United Nations briefing on the situation in Yemen, Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal, Bahrain’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s unwavering support for Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial unity. She stressed that any solution to the crisis must be pursued through political engagement in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions, urging all parties to act with wisdom to restore stability and open prospects for development that reflect the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
Ambassador Jamal welcomed Yemen’s initiative to convene a conference in Riyadh bringing together southern political groups, describing the move as a constructive effort to address the southern issue through inclusive dialogue. She also praised Saudi Arabia for hosting the meeting, noting that it represents an important step toward reducing tensions and advancing diplomatic solutions that serve Yemen’s national interests and regional security.
Bahrain also voiced strong support for the work of UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg, endorsing his efforts to engage Yemeni stakeholders and revive the political process under UN auspices. At the same time, the Kingdom raised alarm over Yemen’s worsening food crisis, warning that rising levels of hunger have created severe humanitarian challenges. The statement underlined the need to ensure safe access for aid delivery and called for the protection and unconditional release of humanitarian workers facing growing risks.
During the session, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2812 (2026)aimed at safeguarding maritime navigation in the Red Sea amid ongoing threats. Bahrain voted in favour of the resolution, reaffirming its commitment to Red Sea security, condemning attacks on commercial vessels, and cautioning that such actions pose serious risks to international trade and the global economy.
