Bahrain’s Weekly Security Roundup: Key Incidents and Enforcement Actions

 

The Ministry of Interior reported a series of notable security and public safety developments across the Kingdom over the past week, underscoring coordinated efforts by law enforcement agencies to maintain safety, enforce the law, and protect the community.

Traffic Violations and Accident Response

The General Directorate of Traffic has announced the arrest of a driver who fled the scene after striking a child in Nuwaidrat. Legal procedures were taken immediately following his apprehension.

In another case, the directorate confirmed action against a driver shown in a viral video performing dangerous stunts in the Busaiteen area. The driver was arrested, his vehicle impounded, and all legal measures were completed.

Authorities also responded to a fatal collision between two vehicles in the Bahrain Forums area east of Sitra, which resulted in the deaths of two Asian nationals, aged 31 and 29. Relevant teams attended the scene and carried out the required procedures.

Additionally, a traffic accident involving a truck and a motorcycle in Sakhir resulted in serious injuries to the motorcyclist. Investigations were launched, and legal steps were taken by the concerned authorities.

As part of this week’s safety message, the General Directorate of Traffic urged all road users to comply with traffic laws and speed limits, emphasising that small actions can significantly enhance road safety and protect lives and property.

Criminal Arrests and Theft Cases

The Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate arrested several Asian individuals involved in the theft of metal plates valued at BD 5,000 from a construction site. All stolen items were recovered, and the case was referred to the Public Prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Capital Governorate Police Directorate arrested a 39-year-old Asian man for selling alcoholic beverages illegally in the Ma’ameer area. Legal procedures were completed, and the suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution.

Major Drug Seizures

The Anti-Narcotics Department of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science arrested several individuals of different nationalities in separate drug cases. More than 9 kilograms of narcotics, with an estimated street value exceeding BD 140,000, were seized.

The department noted that following credible intelligence, evidence-gathering operations led to the identification and arrest of the suspects. All seized substances were documented, and the cases were referred to the Public Prosecution.

The Criminal Media Division highlighted the continued importance of community partnership in combating drug abuse and trafficking, urging the public to report any relevant information.
