Al Hilal Healthcare Group, in collaboration with Solidarity Bahrain, successfully hosted its fourth and largest-ever ‘Defeat Diabetes Walkathon’ at Dohat Arad Park.

The event, held in support of World Diabetes Day, attracted over 3,000 participants — double the attendance of last year — all united under the slogan, “Together Let’s Defeat Diabetes.”

The day began at 7:00 AM with an invigorating 30-minute aerobics session led by the Fitness First team.

Following this, participants, sporting Al Hilal-branded t-shirts and caps, covered a 3-kilometer distance through the park to promote diabetes awareness and healthy living.

The walkathon was officially flagged off by Dr. Sharath Chandran, CEO of Al Hilal Healthcare Group.

He was joined by His Excellency Gines Jaime Ricardo Gallaga, Ambassador-designate of the Embassy of the Philippines in Bahrain, and Mr. Jai Prakash, Deputy General Manager of Solidarity Bahrain.

Also present were Mr. Asif Mohammad, Vice President of Strategy & Business, and Mr. Sahal Jamaluddin, Finance Manager, along with the senior management and staff of Al Hilal Healthcare Group.

Dr. Sharath Chandran expressed his gratitude, stating: “It’s heartening to see so many people come together for such an important cause. We are proud to have such an enthusiastic response and will continue to organize events like this to help combat diabetes.”

Mr. Jai Prakash of Solidarity Bahrain echoed this sentiment, noting: “The remarkable turnout this year is a clear indication of the growing awareness around diabetes. I am confident that events like this will inspire more people in Bahrain to adopt healthier lifestyles.”

The event received significant support from sponsors, including Solidarity Bahrain, Amakin, Megamart, Bakemart, Pocari Sweat, Fitness First Bahrain, and Radio Mirchi.

Upon completing the walk, participants received certificates, complimentary full-body checkup coupons worth BD100, and healthy refreshments, emphasizing the event’s focus on health and wellness.

Building on this success, Al Hilal Healthcare Group will continue its health mission with the upcoming ‘Defeat Diabetes Cyclothon – Season 5’ scheduled for November 28, 2025, in Zallaq.
