HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Congratulates HM the King on Asian Youth Games Success

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, attended the closing ceremony of the 3rd Asian Youth Games at Khalifa Sports City.

Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the ceremony marked the end of 13 days of competitions hosted by Bahrain, with athletes, officials, and guests from across Asia in attendance.

HH Shaikh Khalid congratulated His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on Bahrain’s successful hosting of the event. He said the royal guidance and support were key to making the Games a success.

He also praised His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, for his leadership and efforts to promote youth and sports in Bahrain.

HH Shaikh Khalid expressed pride in Bahrain’s achievement, saying the Games demonstrated the Kingdom’s ability to host world-class sporting events and its growing reputation as a regional sports hub.

He thanked the Olympic Council of Asia for its trust and cooperation, and expressed appreciation to all sponsors, partners, and volunteers whose teamwork and dedication contributed to the success of the event.

Bahrain’s athletes won a total of 13 medals — five gold, five silver, and three bronze — and HH Shaikh Khalid wished them continued success in future competitions.

The ceremony began with the national anthem and included speeches by Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and Timothy Fok, First Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia.

The Games’ flag was officially handed over to Uzbekistan, which will host the next Asian Youth Games in 2029. The event concluded with a video showcasing Bahrain’s edition, a preview of the next Games, a parade of nations, and the extinguishing of the Games’ flame.
