The National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons held its regular meeting to review the Kingdom of Bahrain’s achievements in combating human trafficking and discuss key initiatives aimed at improving working conditions.

Chaired by H.E. Nibras Talib, Chief Executive Officer of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the Committee, the meeting highlighted Bahrain’s continued success in maintaining its Tier 1 ranking in the US Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons Report for the eighth consecutive year—a testament to the Kingdom’s sustained commitment to protecting human rights and ensuring a fair labor environment.

The meeting also noted the recognition of the Public Prosecution’s Anti-Trafficking Division, which received the Award of Excellence from the International Association of Prosecutors in appreciation of its distinguished efforts in promoting justice and safeguarding victims of trafficking.

Talib affirmed that these achievements serve as both an incentive and a responsibility to intensify efforts to enhance Bahrain’s stable and equitable work environment.

He praised the collective efforts of government entities operating within an integrated institutional framework that supports protection, prevention, and effective judicial enforcement.

During the meeting, Talib reviewed several initiatives undertaken by the LMRA to promote fair labour practices and raise awareness of best practices.

Among these initiatives is the upgraded Wage Protection System, which prioritizes safeguarding the rights of national workers and ensuring stability in a just and secure work setting.
