Council Urges Action to Protect Civilians in Gaza
Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs Praises HM King Hamad’s Address at Doha Summit, Reaffirms Bahrain’s Commitment to Peaceful Solutions
The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has praised the noble themes highlighted in the address delivered by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, to the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha. The summit focused on addressing the Israeli aggression against the brotherly State of Qatar.
In its statement, the Council stressed the importance of taking firm positions to safeguard the sovereignty, security, and stability of nations, rejecting the use or threat of force, and intensifying efforts to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza. It also emphasized the need to end forced displacement, halt settlement expansion, and preserve the historical and religious status of Al-Quds Al-Sharif. The Council underscored the urgency of protecting civilians and ensuring the immediate and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid.
During its 30th regular session of the fifth term, chaired by His Excellency Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, the Council reaffirmed Bahrain’s unwavering stance that peaceful solutions remain the essential path for the future of the region, the world, and generations to come.
The Council also welcomed the growing international recognition of the State of Palestine by a majority of UN member states and praised the joint efforts of Saudi Arabia and France in this regard. It further welcomed the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the "New York Declaration" on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue.
The session also reviewed the participation of the Council’s Chairman in the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held in Astana, Kazakhstan, under the theme “Dialogue of Religions: Harmony for Peace”, with the participation of over 60 international delegations. The Council noted the outcomes of the conference, including the adoption of the 2025 Astana Peace Declaration.
In addition, the Council approved the graduation results of the second batch of students from the Quran Teachers’ Diploma Program at the Institute of Quranic Readings, comprising 59 male and female graduates. It extended warm congratulations to the graduates, their families, and the institute’s faculty, describing the achievement as one of the fruitful outcomes of the institute established by the directive of His Majesty the King.
The Council expressed its gratitude to His Majesty for his continuous support of initiatives serving the Holy Quran and Islam, while also commending the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for its backing. It also noted the preparations for the graduation ceremony, scheduled to be held on Wednesday morning, with the attendance of the Council’s Chairman.
Furthermore, the Council reviewed its participation in the 10th International Conference of Fatwa Institutions Worldwide, held in Cairo under the theme “The Role of the Wise Mufti in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The Council took note of the conference outcomes and final statement.
The meeting concluded with the review of incoming reports, letters, and requests, and appropriate decisions were taken.
