HM King Issues Decree to Restructure the Social Insurance Organization

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, issued Royal Decree (61) of 2025 reorganizing the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI).

The decree was issued based on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance and National Economy and after the approval of the Cabinet.

Under the new structure, the organization will be overseen by a Board of Directors, followed by the Chief Executive Officer, who will supervise:

  • Actuarial and Risk Studies Directorate

  • Legal Affairs and Inspection Directorate

  • Communication and Awareness Directorate

Additionally, the decree establishes three deputy chief executive positions, each at the rank of Assistant Undersecretary:

  1. Deputy CEO for Insurance Affairs, overseeing:

    • Registration and Subscriptions Directorate

    • Insured Services Directorate

  2. Deputy CEO for Operations, overseeing:

    • Financial Operations Directorate

    • Resources and Services Directorate

    • Insurance Information Directorate

  3. Deputy CEO for Pensioners’ Affairs, overseeing:

    • Entitlements and Pension Directorate

    • Pensioner Services Directorate

The decree also cancels Decree (79) of 2019, which previously regulated the organization.

The Minister of Finance and National Economy has been tasked with implementing the decree, which takes effect immediately and will be published in the Official Gazette.
