A 30-year-old woman has been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined BHD 5,000 by the High Criminal Court for drug trafficking after turning her apartment into a hub for drug users. The court also sentenced nine individuals caught using drugs to one year in prison each, along with a BHD 1,000 fine per person, and ordered the confiscation of all seized narcotics.
The case surfaced following intelligence received by the Anti-Narcotics Department, revealing that the woman resumed drug distribution after being released from the Reform and Rehabilitation Center. Investigations confirmed that she was either receiving customers at her apartment or handing wrapped narcotics out of her window.
A search of her residence led to the discovery of drugs prepared for sale. Authorities also identified nine individuals who frequently purchased narcotics from her at varying prices.
During the investigation, the accused denied trafficking charges but admitted to using drugs, a habit she has maintained since her twenties. She stated that she procured the substances indirectly from an unidentified Asian supplier.
The nine customers confessed that they routinely bought drugs from her, either directly from her home or by receiving them when she tossed them from the window. Their statements were consistent regarding the quantities and types of drugs purchased, which included heroin, hashish, and methamphetamine, with prices ranging from BHD 5 to BHD 15. Some also revealed that the woman contacted them by phone to offer drugs without any prior acquaintance.
The prosecution charged the woman with possessing and trafficking heroin and methamphetamine in violation of the law during 2024 and 2025 and for turning her apartment into a venue for drug use. The remaining nine defendants were charged with possession of morphine, hashish, and methamphetamine for personal use under illegal circumstances.
