Bahrain’s Interior Ministry Meets with International Organization for Migration to Strengthen Cooperation

Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports, and Residency Affairs, warmly welcomed Ms. Ayhma Sharif, Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission in Bahrain, along with her accompanying delegation. The meeting was also attended by Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Dosari, Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Research, and Follow-up.

During the meeting, Shaikh Hisham praised the vital role the IOM plays in supporting international efforts related to migration and border management. The two sides discussed several important topics of mutual interest, focusing on challenges and recent developments in passports, legal identity, and integrated border management.

They also explored ways to enhance cooperation and share expertise to improve Bahrain’s systems and procedures, ensuring they align with international standards and best practices.

Both parties stressed the importance of implementing United Nations migration programs and initiatives. These efforts aim to support the Interior Ministry’s work in strengthening security, simplifying procedures related to the movement of people, and advancing the technical and administrative infrastructure in this field.
