A nursery worker in Bahrain has been suspended and referred to the Public Prosecution after confessing to abusing a one-year-and-fourmonth-old child, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Education on Saturday.
The abuse was uncovered after the Ministry’s Early Childhood Education Licensing and Follow-up Department received a report and dispatched a specialist team to the nursery. During the investigation, the female worker admitted to the abuse, prompting swift action.
Immediate action
The Ministry directed the nursery to suspend the worker immediately. It confirmed that the case has now been escalated to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings.
In its statement, the Ministry reiterated that it will take strict administrative and legal action against any violations involving children in early education institutions.
Child welfare priority
The Ministry further stressed that nurseries and early learning centres bear the responsibility of protecting the children in their care and must maintain the highest standards of vigilance, oversight, and professionalism. Ensuring the psychological, physical, and emotional well-being of children remains a core obligation.
While the Ministry has not named the nursery involved or provided further case details, the incident has sparked renewed attention on child protection protocols in Bahrain’s early education sector.
The Ministry confirmed it will continue to monitor compliance and hold institutions accountable for staff behaviour.
