Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, has praised the success of the Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo, highlighting its historic resolutions aimed at strengthening Arab unity and advancing a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region.

Dr. Al Zayani emphasized the summit’s unwavering commitment to securing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to freedom, remaining on their land, and establishing an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution and Egypt’s reconstruction plan for Gaza.

Commitment to Palestinian Rights and Regional Stability

The minister commended the summit’s reaffirmation of key principles outlined in the Bahrain Declaration from the 33rd Arab Summit, which underscored Arab support for the Palestinian cause, the rejection of any form of forced displacement, and the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in the occupied Palestinian territories until the two-state solution is fully implemented. He also noted the summit’s strong emphasis on shared human values, coexistence, and interfaith dialogue as essential pillars for achieving lasting global peace and stability.

Dr. Al Zayani expressed deep pride in the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who, as President of the current Arab Summit session, has championed unity, Arab national security, and a comprehensive peace process as the path to securing Palestinian rights and statehood. He reiterated Bahrain’s rejection of settlement expansion and forced displacement, aligning with the Arab Peace Initiative and international resolutions.

Support for Egypt’s Reconstruction Plan and International Cooperation

Acknowledging the efforts of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Bahraini minister welcomed the summit’s unified Arab support for Egypt’s early recovery and reconstruction plan for Gaza. He also stressed the importance of Egypt’s proposal to hold an international peace conference and the establishment of a trust fund to coordinate financial pledges from donor nations and institutions.

Dr. Al Zayani underscored the need for Palestinian unity, emphasizing that all Palestinian factions must unite under the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.

Call for a Lasting Peace and Diplomatic Resolution

The minister also commended ongoing Arab diplomatic and humanitarian efforts aimed at ensuring a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, securing unrestricted humanitarian aid, and supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). He reiterated Bahrain’s call for de-escalation and respect for Jerusalem’s legal and historical status under the Hashemite Custodianship.

Dr. Al Zayani emphasized that the summit sent a clear and unified Arab message to the international community: a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace is the strategic path to ensuring security and coexistence for all. He reaffirmed Bahrain’s support for the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, led by Saudi Arabia, the European Union, and Norway, and its commitment to international peace efforts that foster regional and global stability.
