Premier hails women’s role

Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has affirmed that the development process in the Kingdom is based on the efforts of all Bahrainis, men and women. 

The Premier added that Bahrain is proud of its huge asset of modern legislation and laws that consolidate equality between men and women, and open doors for all to reach decision-making posts in accordance with the criteria of efficiency and achievement.

HRH Premier made the statements as he received at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday a delegation comprising senior guests, heads of plenary sessions and speakers of the High-Level Conference “Women in Public Life: From Policies to Impact”, led by the Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Jarwan, Director-General of the UAE General Women’s Union (GWU) Noura Khalifa Al-Suwaidi and the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Hala Al-Ansari.

The Prime Minister voiced pride in the Bahrain women competencies who, he said, have proved their outstanding capability and skills in various fields and reached top leadership and executive positions well-deservedly.

Thanks to their competence and ambitions, Bahraini women today hold high posts in the government and the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council, have a prominent presence in the interior, defence and judicial sectors, Prince Khalifa said.

HRH Premier stated the Kingdom’s hosting of the high-profile international conference that sheds light on the efforts of the countries of the region to enhance women’s participation in public life, affirms the success of the steps taken by the Kingdom to empower women politically, economically and socially. 

Since the beginning of the last century, the Kingdom has taken interest in supporting women’s participation and activating their role in society out of its belief in their effective and essential role in the nation-building and progress march, HRH Premier said, expressing pride in the Bahraini women’s milestone achievements regionally and internationally.

Members of the delegation thanked HRH the Prime Minister for his interest in empowering women and increasing their contributions to various areas of life.
