Lawyer beaten up over parking space

ManamaAn Arab national has filed a complaint against four Bahrainis after they mercilessly beating him up, following a dispute over a parking space in the Capital Governorate.

The victim, who is also a lawyer, filed the complaint against the assailants at the Capital Police Directorate (Hoora police station).

In his testimony, the victim told the police that he was parking his car in a public parking space in the Diplomatic Area last Wednesday when one of the attackers stood in front of his car and asked him not to park as “the space is reserved for his brother”.

The lawyer who was regularly going to his work at the nearby court refused to listen to the man, told him that it is a public parking space and that he is in a hurry to go to his work.

“The man suddenly fell on the floor as if I hit him with my car. When I went down to see what happened, three of his relatives showed up and began beating me. The man on the floor also got up and joined them. I was beaten up until I lost consciousness,” the victim told the police.

He also informed that the incident occurred opposite to Housing Ministry and that a number of the employees at the ministry witnessed what happened.

The police was able to arrest three of the suspects while a manhunt has been launched to nab the fourth man. Legal proceedings are being taken to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
