A fillip to Bahrain sports

Manama : A first-of-its-kind facility in the Kingdom, the Muharraq Pilot Youth Centre was inaugurated by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President. 

The centre build at a cost of BD1.978 million houses an administrative building, a football stadium, a cultural auditorium, a VIP hall, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a café and e-library. The inauguration was also attended by a number of ministers, Shura Council members, MPs, governors and guests.

Speaking at the inauguration, Shaikh Nasser said the move, part of SCYS-led efforts to upgrade youth and sport infrastructure in Bahrain, is in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to promote Bahraini youth and hone their skills.

Meanwhile, hailing the project as a gift from His Majesty the King and Shaikh Nasser, Chairman of The Dadabhai Group and Chairman of Bahrain-India Society (BIS) Mohammed Dadabhai said the project will allow Bahraini youth to engage in productive activities. The project was awarded to Dadabhai Construction in September 2015. 

“I hope the centre will be used by youth from all over Bahrain which would also ensure its success. 

“We were honoured to execute this project. Thanks to Shaikh Nasser and the ministry of youth for their trust in the Dadabai group,” Mohammed Dadabhai said.
