Hussam to face Shanan in Interior Minister Open Tennis Championship.
Manama: Egyptian professional Kareem Hussam will play Qatari Mubarak Shanan, while Kuwaiti Abdulla Maqdas plays Ayoub Shqrouni from Morocco in the semi finals of the sixth edition of His Excellency Interior Minister Open Tennis Championship.
The players qualified after exciting quarter-finals held on Sunday night.
International Dutch player Rick Di Groot, who lost to Hussam in the quarter-finals, expressed his happiness to participate in the tournament, despite his loss.
He said that his first participation in the championship has been a remarkable experiment, noting to the high technical levels witnessed in the different stages of the contest.
The players expressed gratitude to Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa for annually patronising the championship and endlessly supporting sports in general and tennis in particular.
They also appreciated the efforts paid by members of the organising committee for bringing out a successful
event.
