Rider Sami Ghazwan takes title

Manama : Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) congratulated the winners of the BREEF Showjumping Championship that was held at the Bahrain Defence Force Equestrian Centre in Sakhir.

Local rider Sami Ghazwan (46.90 seconds) riding Fairouz won with a flawless round the Adult Class Grand Prix over hurdles of 120-130cm in height. Fahad Taqi (50.67, four faults) finished second and Abbas Yousif(40.77, eight faults) was third.

Shaikh Faisal commended on the good performance shown by the contenders in the championship. He highlighted the improvement of Bahraini showjumping sport within the vision of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee to develop Bahraini equestrian sports.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Showjumping Committee of BREEF praised the participating riders in the championship, which is considered as one of the most important showjumping contests in the local season and congratulated Ghazwan on his success and wished all riders the best of luck in future competitions.

Four other classes took place with two for adults and two for juniors with Ali Isa (21.59) winning the first class adults over 90-100cm and Abbas Yousif the second over two phases over 105-115cm.

In the junior class, Nedhal Abdulnabi (31.68) won the first over 80-95cm and the second was won by Mayoof Al Rumaihi (22.69) over 95-105cm.
