Investigations into Abu Saiba explosion concluded

The Chief of Anti-terror Crime Prosecution, Advocate General Ahmed Al Hammadi, today said that investigations into an explosion in the Abu Saiba area of Bahrain have concluded.

The incident, which occurred on August 28, led to the death of a security officer and injured a number of security officers and civilians.

As a result of wide-ranging investigations conducted over the past four months, thirty-two suspects have been charged with deliberate murder of a public employee and attempted murder. The individuals have also been charged with forming a terror group, possessing and handling explosive substances, and concealing aiding and abetting suspects.

The investigations carried out by the Public Prosecution and the prosecution evidence includes eyewitness accounts, forensic evidence, and confessions by the suspects.

The case was brought to court today and the next hearing was set to January 19 at the High Criminal Court. The defendants will continue to be afforded full legal rights and counsel as guaranteed by Bahraini law.
