In a Saturday post-match press conference following the Dallas Mavericks' game against the Milwaukee Bucks, NBA star Kyrie Irving made a notable statement by wearing a keffiyeh, a traditional Middle Eastern headdress often associated with Palestinian resistance.
The gesture was a demonstration of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where Israeli attacks since October 7 have resulted in significant casualties and widespread destruction.
Despite Irving's impressive performance on the court, scoring 39 points in a game where the Dallas Mavericks suffered a 132-125 defeat against the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum, the attention shifted to his choice of attire during the press conference.
Kyrie Irving, an eight-time NBA All-Star, holds a prominent position in the league and notably secured the 2016 NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers. With 12 years of NBA experience, he has previously played for the Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, and made a move to the Mavericks earlier in 2023.
