UN chief urges immediate lifting of all Syria sanctions

Geneva: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has urged for the immediate removal of all restrictions imposed on Syria, saying that the measures are preventing the country's economic recovery and worsening the people's suffering.
Guterres asked the international community to lift the bans as Syria faces significant economic and humanitarian issues. He stated that the decision would help improve circumstances for reconstruction, recovery, and the delivery of essential humanitarian supplies.
The UN Secretary-General also called for increased international support for the Syrian people, emphasising the importance of assisting the country in returning to stability and rebuilding after years of warfare and turmoil.
