Enhancing GCC Cooperation Now a Strategic Imperative

Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, has stressed that strengthening cooperation among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states has become a strategic necessity amid increasing regional and global challenges.

He said the GCC was established with a long-term vision to promote the security, stability and prosperity of its member countries. In the current geopolitical climate, he noted, expanding both collective initiatives and bilateral cooperation is essential to effectively address evolving political, economic and security issues.

Gargash highlighted the GCC's central role in fostering joint Gulf and Arab coordination, describing it as the primary platform for protecting national achievements, preserving regional peace and advancing sustainable development. He said the council's ability to coordinate common positions has strengthened solidarity among member states and enabled them to respond more effectively during periods of crisis.

Referring to ongoing geopolitical changes, Gargash said the region requires closer integration across key sectors, including security, economics and diplomacy. He explained that greater coordination would improve the GCC’s ability to manage emerging risks while safeguarding the shared interests of its member states and their citizens.

He also underlined that enhanced Gulf cooperation supports long-term stability and creates opportunities for economic growth and regional development. According to Gargash, unified policies and stronger partnerships will help the GCC remain resilient in an increasingly complex international environment.

Concluding his remarks, Gargash said deeper GCC integration is fundamental to maintaining peace and security in the Middle East. He added that continued cooperation among member states will strengthen the council's regional influence while enhancing its position as a leading bloc on the global stage.
