Provo: The family of conservative activist Charlie Kirk appeared in court on Monday for the guy accused of fatally shooting him, the first time they had done so since his death in 2025. Erika Kirk, Kirk's widow, and his parents, Robert and Kathryn Kirk, were in attendance as prosecutors began presenting evidence against Tyler James Robinson, 23.
Prosecutors told the court they want to use surveillance footage, forensic evidence, and witness testimony to support the murder charge. Robinson is suspected of shooting Kirk outside a public gathering, and the state is seeking the death penalty if convicted.
Prior to the hearing, the Kirk family stated that each court appearance is a sad reminder of their loss and requested privacy while legal proceedings continue.
