China Storm Death Toll Climbs to 15, Nine Missing

Beijing: The death toll from severe storms, torrential rain, and flooding in regions of China has grown to 15, with nine people still missing, according to state media. As severe weather threatens daily life, rescue crews continue search for victims of landslides, flash floods, and powerful winds.
The storms destroyed homes, roads, and electricity lines, forcing thousands of people to evacuate and injured hundreds. Emergency workers have been mobilised to restore key services and assist impacted communities, and authorities have issued further weather alerts as more heavy rain is predicted in the coming days.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged officials to make every effort to rescue those who are missing, relocate people from hazardous areas, and boost flood prevention measures in order to reduce more deaths and damage. Officials have cautioned that saturated soils and rising river levels may enhance the risk of future floods and landslides across many areas.
