Ras Al Khaimah: A family holiday intended to reunite loved ones after years apart ended in tragedy when a 7 years old Emirati boy died in a road accident in Tunisia. Jassim Mohammed Abdullah Ali Zaid Al Shehhi, a resident of Ras Al Khaimah's Ghalilah area, passed away on Saturday after being hit by a car in the Manouba Governorate of Tunisia. According to his family, the child was walking to a nearby grocery store when the accident happened. Despite efforts to save him, he died from his wounds around an hour after being taken to the hospital.

Jassim had spent a summer vacation visiting relatives in Tunisia with his mother and three siblings. It was his mother's first trip back to her home country in nearly five years. His father remained in the UAE for work reasons and learned about the disaster through phone call from his eldest son.

His father said that the family had looked forward to spending time together and making wonderful memories, but the vacation turned into an unbearable loss. He described Jassim as a bright, friendly boy who enjoyed playing with his brothers and was particularly devoted to his mother.

Tunisian authorities have taken the driver into jail while investigations continue. The family has finished the legal processes for returning the boy's body to the UAE. Funeral prayers and burial will be held in Ghalilah, Ras Al Khaimah, where relatives, friends, and community members are expected to pay their final respects.
