London: Catherine, Princess of Wales, has become the first member of the British royal family to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge, raising funds and awareness for cancer care through the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

The 44 year old climbed Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales within 24 hours after beginning the challenge on Saturday evening. She completed the trek of 23 miles, covering more than 3,000 metres of ascent, with support from Mountain Rescue.

Catherine said she took on the challenge to support people living with cancer and highlight the lasting impact the disease has on patients and their families. Diagnosed with cancer in 2024, she underwent chemotherapy and announced she was in remission earlier this year. She received treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

Funds raised through the challenge will support holistic cancer care, helping patients access emotional, psychological and practical support alongside medical treatment.

The Princess was welcomed at the finish by Prince William, their three children and members of her family. Kensington Palace said she is believed to be the first royal to successfully complete the National Three Peaks Challenge.
