Qatar Welcomes US–Iran MoU on De-escalation and Maritime Security

The State of Qatar welcomed the electronic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States of America and the Iran aimed at addressing outstanding issues between the two sides, including the cessation of military operations and the assurance of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the agreement as a positive step reflecting both sides’ commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue and peaceful means. It added that the MoU could help strengthen prospects for long-term regional stability and support economic growth at both regional and global levels.

The Ministry also expressed appreciation for the efforts of Pakistan and other regional and international partners that contributed to de-escalation efforts and helped bridge differences leading to the memorandum's signing.

Qatar said the MoU provides a strong foundation for the next phase of discussions between Washington and Tehran, urging all parties to maintain constructive engagement, continue diplomatic coordination, and work toward comprehensive and sustainable outcomes.

Reaffirming its position, Qatar stressed its continued support for mediation efforts aimed at enhancing regional security and stability. It reiterated that dialogue, peaceful resolution of disputes, and adherence to international law and good neighborliness remain essential to achieving lasting peace and shared prosperity.
