JERUSALEM: A rocket launched by Hezbollah exploded inside a commercial center in the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona early Saturday morning. The impact was part of a broader barrage of approximately 15 rockets fired from Lebanon following a series of overnight attacks.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that while the majority of the incoming projectiles were successfully intercepted, one managed to break through and strike the city. Local officials reported that the commercial facility was completely closed at the time of the explosion, resulting in zero civilian injuries despite inflicting extensive structural damage.
Hezbollah claimed direct responsibility for the rocket salvos, stating the operation was conducted in defense of Lebanon and in retaliation for alleged Israeli ceasefire violations. In immediate response, the Israeli military successfully executed an airstrike targeting and destroying the specific Lebanese launcher used to conduct the attack.
