‘Countless Orange Orbs’: Pentagon Releases New UFO Files Detailing Decades of Unexplained Sightings

Washington DC : The Pentagon has released a new collection of records on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), commonly known as UFOs, detailing decades of unexplained sightings, including a military intelligence officer’s account of encountering “countless orange orbs” around a helicopter.

The latest disclosure includes documents, audio recordings and 51 videos spanning reports from the late 1940s to recent years. Among the materials is footage showing an unidentified object being shot down by a U.S. fighter jet, although officials have not provided further details about its nature.

One of the most notable reports comes from a senior U.S. intelligence officer who described a series of encounters while flying over a military test range in the western United States last year. While investigating reports of unusual sounds in nearby mountains, the officer observed glowing orange objects moving at high speed for more than an hour.

According to the report, the objects appeared extremely hot, hovered close to the ground and emitted light in all directions. At one stage, the swarm reportedly formed a triangular pattern before disappearing without explanation.

The newly released files also contain historical accounts dating back to 1948. Witnesses reported seeing glowing orbs, discs and fireballs across various parts of the United States. Some reports from New Mexico described objects manoeuvring erratically, vanishing and later appearing to explode.

Many of the videos were recorded by military infrared cameras between 2018 and 2023. One clip shows an unidentified object over Lake Huron in 2023, during a period of heightened surveillance following the Chinese spy balloon incident.

The Pentagon said the records do not provide evidence of extraterrestrial life or alien technology. Officials said the material is being released to increase transparency and allow the public to review the available evidence.

The disclosure follows an order by President Donald Trump to release additional government records related to unidentified anomalous phenomena. The Pentagon said further files are expected to be made public in the coming months.
