Cyprus building collapse kills 2, injures 4

At least two people have died and four others were injured after a two-storey building collapsed in a suburb of Limassol, authorities confirmed on Saturday.

Emergency crews recovered one body from the rubble, while another person was found unconscious and is believed to have died, according to reports from the country’s public broadcaster.

Fire service spokesperson Andreas Kettis said search operations were carried out to ensure no one else was trapped under the debris.

The injured victims were taken to hospital, with officials stating that their conditions were not life-threatening.

Police spokesperson Kostas Michael described the collapse as sudden, saying the structure fell “like a house of cards.” Local authorities added that the building had previously been considered unsafe.
