Authorities in Abu Dhabi are responding to multiple fires that broke out at the Borouge petrochemical plant, following debris from intercepted aerial threats.
According to officials, the fires were triggered after air defence systems successfully intercepted incoming missiles and drones. Emergency teams were quickly deployed to contain the situation.
Operations at the facility have been temporarily suspended as authorities assess the extent of the damage. No injuries have been reported so far, and officials confirmed that updates will be shared as the situation develops.
Earlier on Sunday morning, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) announced that the UAE’s air defence systems had intercepted incoming missile threats originating from Iran. The aerial threats were neutralised before reaching their intended targets.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm, stay in safe locations, and rely only on official sources for accurate information. The public has also been advised against spreading rumours or unverified reports.
