No promises this will be Israel’s ‘last war’, says Israeli Foreign Minister

JERUSALEM: Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has warned that while Israel’s military actions have removed immediate dangers, the country is still in a long-term conflict.

In a statement released on Wednesday for the start of Passover, Saar said that joint operations with the U.S. have effectively ‘removed the threat of elimination’ from Iran.

Even while claiming a major victory, Saar spoke seriously about what comes next. "We still face bitter and cruel enemies, but they have been dealt a severe blow," Saar stated.

‘We do not promise that this will be the ‘last war.’ The Foreign Minister’s comments follow reports of ‘historic decisions’ by the Israeli cabinet to launch strikes against Iranian nuclear and missile sites. Saar argued these actions were needed to stop a ‘concrete plan of annihilation’ found by intelligence services. While the "existential" part of the threat is over, the Minister insisted that Israel must stay ‘vigilant’ and ready, as the region remains unstable.
