Abu Dhabi: An Indian national person was injured in Umm Al Quwain after debris from an intercepted drone fell near an industrial facility on Wednesday, authorities confirmed.

In a statement, the Umm Al Quwain Government Media Office said the incident occurred in the Umm Al Thuoob area after air defence systems successfully intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle. Emergency teams were quickly deployed and handled the situation in line with safety protocols.

Officials urged residents to avoid spreading rumours and rely only on official sources for updates.

The incident came hours after a similar case in Fujairah, where one person was killed when debris from an intercepted drone fell on a farm in the Al Rifa area.

According to the Fujairah Government Media Office, the drone was intercepted by air defence systems, but fragments landed in a populated area, resulting in the death of a Bangladeshi national. No other casualties were reported.

Authorities said emergency response teams acted swiftly and are continuing to manage the situation.

Both incidents come amid heightened regional tensions, with UAE authorities maintaining high alert as air defence systems continue to intercept aerial threats.
