Tehran:Iran has reiterated its readiness to assist Sri Lanka at any time, reaffirming its longstanding friendship and commitment to bilateral cooperation.

Speaking at a special media briefing in Colombo, Iranian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Alireza Delkhosh, said Tehran is prepared to supply oil and other essential goods if requested by Sri Lanka.

He emphasised that Iran maintains an open and supportive stance toward friendly nations, noting that the Strait of Hormuz remains accessible to them, including Sri Lanka.

Addressing concerns over regional tensions, the Ambassador clarified that Iran has not restricted access to the vital shipping route for its allies and is willing to facilitate their needs.

“Iran stands ready to support Sri Lanka in times of need. We do not want to see Sri Lanka in trouble, and the people of Sri Lanka are highly respected in Iran,” he said, underscoring the goodwill between the two nations.

The remarks highlight Iran’s intention to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties with Sri Lanka while ensuring continued cooperation.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Delkhosh noted that Iran has established comprehensive infrastructure to support and safeguard foreign nationals residing in the country. He added that no issues have been reported so far and that all necessary measures are in place to ensure their well-being.

He further stated that Iran can facilitate the departure of foreign nationals wishing to return home, including transit through neighbouring countries such as Turkey.
