London: Police are treating a suspected arson attack on ambulances belonging to a Jewish volunteer service as an antisemitic hate crime after four vehicles were set on fire in north London.
Emergency services were called to Golders Green around 1:45 a.m. on Monday following reports of a blaze. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident is being investigated as a hate crime.
The ambulances were operated by Hatzola, a charity providing free emergency medical response in the community.
The London Fire Brigade deployed six fire engines and about 40 firefighters to control the fire, which damaged four vehicles. Officials said oxygen cylinders inside the ambulances exploded, shattering windows in a nearby residential building. No injuries have been reported.
Police said they are reviewing CCTV footage and believe up to three suspects may be involved. No arrests have been made so far.
Authorities have increased patrols in the area and are working with community leaders to reassure residents. The incident comes amid heightened concerns over rising antisemitism in parts of Europe.
