New Delhi: Indian airlines have begun operating special relief flights from the Middle East to bring stranded passengers back home following widespread disruptions.

IndiGo plans to operate 10 special flights from Jeddah to India on Tuesday, while SpiceJet will run four special services from Fujairah to Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi, including two flights to Mumbai.

SpiceJet also announced that it will restore its scheduled flights between Fujairah and Delhi and Mumbai from March 4, aiming to normalise connectivity between the UAE and India.

Around 357 flights were cancelled on Monday amid the disruptions, though operations gradually resumed by evening, with stranded aircraft returning to service.

The government is coordinating with airlines, airports, regulatory authorities and the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safe restoration of services. Additional arrangements, including extra capacity and coordination with foreign aviation authorities, have been put in place to assist stranded passengers.
