Macron Arrives in Mumbai for Talks with PM Modi, AI Summit

Mumbai: French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Mumbai, India, on Tuesday for a three-day official visit to India, during which he will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and participate in the AI Impact Summit.

Macron was received at Mumbai airport by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Welcoming the French leader, Fadnavis posted on X: “Bienvenue à Mumbai! A very warm welcome to the President of France… Maharashtra welcomes you! Wishing President Macron and the entire French delegation a pleasant stay and a successful visit.”

Ahead of his departure for India, Macron said the visit aimed to further strengthen the India-France strategic partnership. “Three days from Mumbai to New Delhi to take our strategic partnership even further,” he wrote on X, adding that business leaders and representatives from economic, industrial, cultural and digital sectors were accompanying him to deepen bilateral cooperation.

During the visit, Modi and Macron are expected to review progress in the India-France strategic partnership and explore ways to expand cooperation into new and emerging areas. The two leaders will also exchange views on key regional and global issues.

Macron is visiting India from February 17 to 19 at Modi’s invitation. In addition to attending the AI Impact Summit hosted by India, he will hold bilateral talks with the Prime Minister in Mumbai.
