Iran Denies Explosion Reports at Nuclear or Military Sites
Iranian authorities have dismissed reports claiming an explosion at one of the country’s nuclear or military facilities, stating that no incident occurred in the Pakdasht region near Tehran.
The clarification followed unverified reports suggesting an explosion at a military center in the area. However, Iranian officials said investigations found no evidence of any accident or security threat.
The Governor of Pakdasht said the sounds reported by residents were linked to routine military tests conducted at the Parche military complex. He stressed that such tests are carried out periodically and pose no danger to the city or its residents.
“There has been no explosion or incident in Pakdasht. The sounds heard were part of scheduled military activities, and there is no cause for concern,” the governor said.
The clarification comes amid heightened tensions in West Asia, following the arrival of a United States aircraft carrier strike group in the region. The USS Abraham Lincoln, along with guided-missile destroyers, has been deployed, increasing U.S. military capabilities in the area.
U.S. President Donald Trump has previously vowed action against Iranian authorities over their response to nationwide protests, raising concerns about possible military escalation.
Meanwhile, Gulf Arab states have indicated they do not wish to be involved in any potential conflict. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have stated that the United States would not be allowed to launch attacks from their territory, despite hosting U.S. military bases and personnel.
