Doha: Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Tuesday reaffirmed Doha’s support for all efforts aimed at de-escalation and peaceful solutions in the Middle East, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The remarks came during a phone call with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani, during which Sheikh Mohammed also emphasized Qatar’s commitment to initiatives that promote regional security and stability.

The two officials reviewed bilateral cooperation between Qatar and Iran, explored ways to strengthen ties, and discussed the latest regional developments along with issues of mutual interest.

The call comes amid heightened tensions in Iran, where widespread anti-government protests triggered by worsening economic conditions have reportedly resulted in thousands of deaths, according to some estimates. The unrest marks one of the most serious internal challenges facing Iran’s leadership in recent years.

Earlier on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump urged Iranians to continue protesting and called for the takeover of state institutions, stating that “help is on its way.” On Monday, Trump also announced a 25% tariff on imports from countries conducting business with Iran, while warning that further military action remains under consideration following last year’s US and Israeli strikes.

Qatar has consistently called for dialogue and diplomatic solutions as regional pressures and international tensions surrounding Iran continue to intensify.
