Multiple Explosions Hit Venezuelan Capital; Cause Unclear
Caracas: A series of explosions shook Caracas early Saturday, leaving some parts of the city without electricity, CNN reported. The first blast occurred around 1:50 a.m. local time. Sounds of aircraft were also heard following the blasts, though the cause remains unclear. Verified video showed plumes of smoke rising into the night sky, with flashes and an orange glow visible in some areas.
Explosions were also reported in La Guaira and Higuerote, cities along Venezuela’s coast. The incidents come amid heightened tensions, as US President Donald Trump has warned of potential action against alleged drug trafficking networks in Venezuela, including authorizing CIA operations earlier this year.
