Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Monday accused Spain of antisemitism after Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced nine measures aimed at addressing what he described as "the genocide in Gaza."
Saar criticized Sanchez’s government, claiming it was using anti-Israel rhetoric to distract from corruption scandals. Speaking on X, he said the campaign was “transparent” and added that Spain’s Deputy Prime Minister and Labor Minister, Yolanda Diaz, would be barred from entering Israel, with no official contact to be maintained.
“Today we put a red line here, demonstrating we will not take it from them anymore,” Saar said during a press conference in Budapest alongside Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
Saar also targeted France, stating that countries eager to support a Palestinian state should do so within their own territories. Relations between Israel and France have been tense since President Emmanuel Macron co-chaired a conference in July with Saudi Arabia advocating a two-state solution.
Emphasizing security, Saar said Israel would “not risk” its safety with “indefensible borders” and added, “We will not repeat the mistakes of the past.”
