Aster Clinics, part of Aster DM Healthcare, has launched the UAE’s first artificial intelligence-powered dental screening tool — Smyl AI — offering free and fast dental health assessments via WhatsApp.

The tool allows users to complete a preliminary screening in under two minutes by answering a few basic questions and uploading three images of their teeth — upper, lower, and front views. In collaboration with India-based health tech firm Logy.AI, the system analyses the images and instantly generates a personalised dental health report. The AI detects potential issues such as cavities, gum disease, plaque buildup, and surface stains, encouraging early intervention and follow-up care.

Following the screening, users have the option to book a consultation with a dental specialist at an Aster Clinic for further evaluation. The initiative forms part of the group’s “Smarter Smiles” campaign, which aims to promote awareness, encourage early detection, and simplify access to dental care.

“Artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly vital role in enhancing healthcare outcomes across multiple medical disciplines,” said Dr. Sherbaz Bichu, CEO of Aster Hospitals and Clinics – UAE, Oman, and Bahrain. “Oral health is a window to overall well-being, and technology like this allows us to connect with patients in a more convenient, accessible way.”

While the platform is currently available in the UAE, the launch signals a broader regional trend toward digital-first healthcare solutions — a movement also being reflected in Bahrain’s expanding digital health strategy.

The 12,000-square-foot platform is expected to redefine preventive care by providing affordable and accessible screening tools, especially in regions aiming to ease pressure on clinical resources.

For now, Smyl AI is accessible for free to all users through WhatsApp, with plans for future regional rollout and integration into wider healthcare networks.
