A teenager who murdered his mother, brother, and sister as part of a chilling plan to carry out a school massacre has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 49 years.
Nicholas Prosper, now 19, was 18 when he carried out the brutal killings in September last year at their family home in Luton. Prosecutors revealed that he had plotted to become the deadliest mass murderer in history and had intended to target a classroom of four-year-olds in a school shooting.
Prosper was spared a whole-life order but will not be eligible for parole until he is at least 67 years old. His crimes were described as "intelligent, calculated, and selfish" by the sentencing judge, who warned that he may never be released unless deemed no longer a threat to society.
Using a shotgun purchased with a forged license, Prosper shot his mother, Juliana Falcon, 48, in the head, and his 13-year-old sister, Giselle, who had been hiding under a dining table. His 16-year-old brother, Kyle, was shot in the chest and head and suffered more than 100 knife wounds.
During sentencing, Mrs. Justice Cheema-Grubb told Prosper: "You intended to unleash disaster on the community of Luton. Your ambition was notoriety—to be known posthumously as the world's most famous school shooter of the 21st century. The lives of your own mother and younger siblings were merely collateral damage in your pursuit of infamy."
The court heard that Prosper had meticulously planned his attack but was arrested before he could carry out the school massacre. Authorities emphasized the highly dangerous nature of his crimes, stating that his release would only be considered if experts determined he no longer posed a risk to the public.
His sentencing marks one of the most disturbing cases in recent history, highlighting the devastating impact of violent extremism driven by a desire for infamy.
