Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its full support for the Lebanese government’s efforts to safeguard the security of its citizens and take decisive action against those responsible for a recent attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

In a statement issued by the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the Kingdom expressed confidence in the measures taken by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to address security challenges. The statement also commended the Lebanese Army for its role in maintaining stability in the country.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has vowed to bring to justice those behind the attack, which resulted in injuries to a UNIFIL deputy commander. The incident occurred on Friday when protesters attacked a UN convoy, setting one of its vehicles on fire.

In response, Salam has instructed Lebanon’s Interior Minister to take immediate steps to identify and apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they are referred to the judicial system for prosecution.

The attack on UNIFIL has drawn widespread condemnation, with calls for accountability and stronger measures to prevent further security breaches. Saudi Arabia’s backing underscores its commitment to regional stability and its ongoing support for Lebanon’s security institutions.
