Thunder Moor lifts House ME Cup in feature at REHC

Thunder Moor won the House ME Cup in the final event of yesterday’s eight-race card at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir. Competing for owner Mrs Maria Gill and trainer George Boughey, jockey Gerald Mosse steered four-year-old Thunder Moor to the win over five furlongs.

They came away with the lion’s share of the BD3,000 total prize. Inveigle finished in second place for Sayed Jawad Marzooq, Mahmood Jawad and Adnan Jaffar; while The Thin Blue Line took third for Al Mohamediya Racing, Ali Abdulmajeed and Neil Callan.

Seven House ME Cups in all were up for grabs in yesterday’s action, which marked the 20th meeting of the national horseracing season at REHC. In the sixth race, offering BD3,000 in winnings and held over 14 furlongs, Knight of Honour emerged triumphant competing for the Al Mohamediya-Abdulmajeed-Callan connections.

Vega Sicilia came second for Al Mohamediya, Fawzi Nass and Marcialis Jaures; while third was Port Douglas, representing Ali Jaafar Darwish, Jaffar Darwish and Husain Makki.

For the other House ME Cups, Shgardi won in race seven (1,000m, BD2,000 prizes) for Al Afoo Racing, Mohammed Hasan and Ebrahim Nader; Mowja triumphed in race five (2,000m, BD2,000) for Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim, Haider Ebrahim and Abdulla Faisal; Atlal took the trophy in race four (1,600m, BD2,000) for the Al Mohamediya-Abdulmajeed-Callan triumvirate; Vegas Jack took race three (1,600m, BD2,000) for Al Mohamediya, Nass and Callan; and California took the cup in race two for Abdulla Sami Nass, Fawzi Nass and Stephane Ladjadj. In yesterday’s opening race of the day, Musannan 1881 took first place to hoist the Fatees Al Hajeri Cup.

Competing over seven furlongs with a BD1,500 total prize up for grabs, the four-year-old colt triumphed for Al Khaldiya, Fawzi Nass and Stephane Ladjadj.
