Six Hours of Bahrain to showcase ninety drivers

The FIA WEC Six Hours of Bahrain is fast approaching and all signs are pointing towards a classic weekend on November 20 and 21 at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

Plenty of bumper-to- bumper action is expected in all four competition categories with a field of 32 cars from 10 nations on the grid and will be the biggest-ever seen from the WEC in Bahrain, with 90 drivers from 19 countries in the fray.

There will be nine cars in the Le Mans Prototype 1 (LMP1) class, while another nine challengers from the LMP2 category will be on hand. The rest of the grid will be made up of another seven cars each from the Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance Pro (LMGTE Pro) and the Le Mans Grand Touring Am (LMGTE Am) classes.

The LMP1 class will be spearheaded by Porsche Team. Fellow-German outfit Audi Sport Team Joest are also there, as are defending champions Toyota from Japan.

The LMP2 category is led by the single car of the class’ defending champions AF Racing (also known as SMP Racing). Fellow Russians G-Drive Racing will be fielding two cars as will Americans Extreme Speed Motorsports. The field will be completed by a single entry each from French team Signatech Alpine, British squad Strakka Racing, Swiss outfit Team Sard Morand and Hong Kong team KCMG.

In the LMGTE Pro category, seven cars representing three teams will be battling it out. They will be led by the two cars of last year’s champions AF Corse of Italy. Germans Porsche Team Manthey will have two cars alongside them, while British team Aston Martin Racing, who will be competing with three cars.
